NAKED is an elevated experience of modern Brazilian swimwear.
Naked was created by Ananda Fróes, an architect who wanted to escape her corporate job and pursue her lifelong passions for swimwear design. Originally from Brasilia, the capital of Brazil, she was familiar with the global fame of Brazilian swimwear, but found the styles to be dated, unflattering, and full of stereotypical “tropical” patterns.
In 2016, Ananda dove head-first into her dream. She quit her architecture job and studied swimwear design and production in vibrant Rio de Janeiro. With her newfound knowledge, she went back in Brasilia and created Naked Swimwear. Her vision? Keeping all of the trendy and sexy aspects of traditional Brazilian swimwear and adding high-quality elements to create effortlessly minimalist swimsuits that do justice to every woman’s body.
The best way to ensure quality is to stay close to production. That’s why Ananda established Naked’s design and production in-house. She remains steps away from production and tirelessly monitors every step of the design-to-product process. She modifies each pilot piece - sometimes as much as 30 times - until it’s up to the high-quality standards of the brand. A small team of seamstresses located about 2 hours away from Brasilia, turned into 50+ employees in the area and a few more in a second production site located in the capital. The very first hired seamstress is now Chief of Production and her husband oversees the fabric cutting. Because of the growth of the company, the pair recently bought their first car and house.
Meanwhile in New York City, Camilla Venturi was also making a splash in the design world: after years of being an attorney in Brazil, she was working in graphic design for another fashion brand. Fresh out of graphic design school, she was ready for her first solo branding project: Naked Swimwear. She crafted a chic brand reflecting a high-end product and continues to act as co-founder of Naked Swimwear International and Creative Director, handling all the creative direction and brand message.
That message has been well-received: Naked Swimwear has been spotted on some of Brazil’s most famous celebrities and influencers and has been featured on the pages of Vogue, Glamour, Bazaar, and Marie Claire. If you enjoy reality TV shows like Big Brother Brasil, A Fazenda, or Too Hot to Handle Brazil, you’ve probably seen Naked swimsuits in action there, as well.
In July of 2021, Naked launched in the U.S. with an office in New York City and worldwide shipping. And Ananda and Camilla are just getting started - Naked’s very first beachwear capsule collection is on the horizon. The collection will join Naked Noire, a sister brand focused on lingerie that was launched in 2020 and that will soon go global as well.
Our swimwear is luxe, minimalist, chic, and unapologetically feminine–a true tribute to the beautiful body of every woman. Get comfortable, feel confident, and get Naked!
